Get to know the artist!
Cory was born in Morgantown, West Virginia. Although he was only a resident for a short time, his roots are very important to him since they are the same roots as Don ‘Barney Fife’ Knotts! Cory’s family tree was uprooted and replanted in Central Pennsylvania when he was just a young lad. He attended Catholic school in a quiet, little valley called Lakemont, Pennsylvania ... which now is the home of a huge amusement park, lights on the lake, an ice-skating rink and a minor league baseball field! Not so quiet, anymore.
Cory went on to graduate from Bishop Guilfoyle High School in 1990, and went on to the Pittsburgh Art institute to study commercial arts.
While attending art school in Pittsburgh, Cory was lucky enough to befriend one of his boyhood heroes, Mr. Fred Rogers. In fact, Mr. Rogers spoke very highly of Cory saying, “Cory has great whimsy and real talent….He loves working with
children using both his artistic talents and music and dance in ways that are entertaining and educational”.
Cory now works in newspaper and television and
has been working in activities for personal care homes for quite some time. He played a sports mascot for a Pittsburgh Pirates Minor League Team, and he enjoys teaching Cartooning to Kids
through his ART FUNSHOPS program. Cory has an online comic strip and recently wrote and illustrated a children's book.
