Dr. Warren Davidson, Altoona Symphony concertmaster and assistant conductor, appears as soloist with the orchestra for the fifth time. With conductor Fred Morden Dr. Davidson performed the Vivaldi Mandolin Concerto and a concert that included both Vivaldi “Spring” and the Charles DeBeriot Violin Concerto #9; with Nicholas Palmer he played Lalo’s Symphonie Espagnole and the Kabalevsky Concerto. Dr Davidson is the conductor of the Slippery Rock Symphony Orchestra and teaches violin, viola, and the strings class at Slippery Rock University. He is music director of the Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra, concertmaster of the Westmoreland Symphony and principal viola of the McKeesport Symphony. In addition, his Academy Chamber Orchestra is the orchestra of choice for the major choral organizations in Pittsburgh, including the Mendelssohn Choir, the Bach Choir, and the Pittsburgh Concert Chorale. Dr. Davidson earned a B.A. cum laude in Philosophy and Psychology at Duquesne University before turning to full-time violin study; his principal teachers were Alan Grishman and Efim Boico. He completed an MM in violin at Duquesne, an MA in Theory and Composition at the University of Pittsburgh, a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Chamber Music at the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee, and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at West Virginia University where he was granted a Swiger Fellowship.
