Dr. Harold R. Cottle

Dr. Harold R. Cottle, 82, Hollidaysburg, died Saturday evening at Altoona Regional Health System, Bon Secours Hospital Campus, after an extended illness.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of the late Kenneth and Katherine (Belloch) Cottle. He married Dr. Betty Lowell July 15, 1950, in Brooklyn.

Surviving are his wife of 57¢ years; a daughter, Susan Elizabeth Cottle and husband, Peter Moulton, of South China, Maine; two sons: David Lowell Cottle and wife, Becky, of Lockwood, N.Y., and Andrew Geoffrey Cottle and wife, Anne, of Houlton, Maine; and two grandchildren: Morgan Alicia Cottle and Elias Lowell Cottle.

A graduate of Boys High School, Brooklyn, he attended Bard College and graduated from Dartmouth College. After his graduation from medical school, he specialized in pathology, becoming board certified in several areas and becoming particularity known for his forensic work.

He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean conflict.

Dr. Cottle enjoyed helping others and stressed education for everyone.
