Barbara Crain and Rachel Eardley performed a concert of 'Easy Listening' to raise funds for the ASO. Selections included Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Spellbound Concerto and works by Scott Joplin. Afterwards a reception was held and patrons dined at Applebee's Dining to Donate where 15% of the bill went to the ASO.

Our Musical Discovery Series talks just keep growing in popularity - come early to a Classical Series Concert and see what the excitement is all about! Dr. Charles Youmans, Assistant Professor of Music History at Penn State, is your trusty guide to learning more about the pieces being performed at every Classical Series Concert. In plain language we can all understand, Dr. Chuck brings the composers and music to life, making the concert experience much more enjoyable for all concertgoers! Musical Discovery Series talks will be held prior to all Classical Series Concerts and are free to all ASO patrons who hold a ticket for that evening's performance.
Being held in conjunction with our Pops Series Concert featuring music from classic Broadway musicals, this is a perfect opportunity to turn a special concert into an "enchanted evening" of magic! With a Broadway theme, a gourmet meal, entertainment, auctions and much, much more, this is truly an evening not to be missed! And with The Columns less than a block from the Mishler Theatre, you can park, relax and enjoy! An elegant soiree and a great concert...an enchanted evening you won't soon forget!
Join our conductor and guest artists Friday's prior to Classical Series Concerts. Over an elegant lunch in an intimate setting, hear ASO artists discuss the works being performed on that weekend's program. Gain an extra insight and appreciation of the masterpieces performed by the ASO and enjoy a wonderful lunch with fellow area music lovers and ASO artists. Reservations are required for this event. Cost is $15 per person.
Barnes and Noble Bookfair Feb. 16th, 2008 a success! The Altoona Symphony Orchestra would like to thank its patrons for purchasing over $3,000 in books at Barnes and Noble using ASO vouchers at our February Bookfair! The ASO will receive a check from Barnes and Noble for 15% of the purchases made. We would also like to thank our musicians: Barbara Crain, piano, Riann Sevilla Edson, violin, Dr. Parsons (PSU faculty) and musicians from Altoona Campus who played in the cafe to a delighted audience! Members of the Altoona Symphony League volunteered to pass out information about the ASO to interested customers working shifts from 9am-10pm and sipping on lattes!
